Well, since today is all about revealing brand new awful titles after X-Files: I Want to Believe, I figured I would throw this one out there too.

The Fast and the Furious 4 has a new title and it may seem familiar.

The fourth installment will be called Fast and Furious.

They left out the the’s in the title and there’s your official name for the fourth movie. That isn’t confusing at all to anyone referring to the first or now the fourth movie.

What is this trend recently to simplify late installments in over-stayed franchises? Rambo. Rocky Balboa. X-Men: Last Stand. Police Academy: Mission to Moscow.

Just tack the number 4 on the end and be done with it. You don’t see the Godfather series releasing a movie called simply Godfather. If Harry Potter wasn’t named on properly named series of books, you would be seeing HP coming to theaters next year. The computer company would love it.

Any way, there’s also a synopsis out that tells the story of the reunion of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster.

“When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him.”

I’m on the edge of my custom-made driver’s seat. Fast and Furious comes out June 5, 2009.
