Sacha Baron Cohen has been spotted in various locations filming for his latest fake documentary, Brüno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt.
Bruno is the third and final character of Cohen’s “Ali G” show to be adapted into a movie. Ali G Indahouse was the first where he played his most famous character at the time, a white rapper who preys on unsuspecting celebrities.
His next was the widely popular and hilarious Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, which he won a Golden Globe for in 2007.
Now he’s filming around the world as my favorite character of the show, Bruno, a gay “fashionista” who makes homophobic people uncomfortable and people look ridiculous in general.
In one skit from the HBO show, he asks two guests on his fake fashion show to give their opinion of Paris Hilton. They trash her, saying she shouldn’t be famous. Then after he stops the show and explains to them that the Hiltons own the network, they re-shoot the interview where they applaud her fashion sense. Brilliant.
He apparently messed with Ben Affleck recently. Mike Walker of the National Enquirer talked about it on the Howard Stern Show last Thursday. Ben Affleck apparently called comedian friend Sarah Silverman after an interview with a person he was told was a “very famous openly gay fashion journalist.” Ben called the interview “the weirdest sit-down he has ever had with a reporter” explaining that the interviewer’s (whom he referred to as an “idiot”) first question was “How do you like n*ggers?” Silverman had to fill him in on the Bruno character.
I’m sure that will show up in the movie, due out in October 2008.
Bruno also showed up in Kansas, where a spy camera filmed a scene in an airport. Check it out the YouTube clip below after the jump.
