According to ComingSoon.net, a few casting choices have been locked down for X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Liev Schreiber has already been confirmed as Sabertooth/Victor Creed. Sabertooth is Wolverine’s arch-enemy and mutant villain equivalent.

Danny Huston will be playing a young William Stryker (first reported at JoBlo). The part was played by Brian Cox in X-Men 2. Stryker is Christian fundamentalist/politician that pushes for the destruction of the mutant race. Which means he’s not a fan of Wolverine or the X-Men.

Lynn Collins has been cast as Silver Fox (IESB confirmed it). Fox is Wolverine’s love interest and fellow “Team X” member. Maggie Q and Michelle Monahan were considered for the role, but it ultimately went to Collins, a very cute Texan chick.

Also, there will be a few other mutant cameos to watch for.

The Blob will make an appearance. FilmSchoolRejects says it is being filmed as a man in a giant rubber suit. “The suit makes him look like he is 800 lbs., but the producers of the film wanted to make him even bigger, something like 1200 lbs. The key thing to note here is not only that The Blob will appear in the movie, but that it will be an actor in a suit rather than CGI.” Right now there isn’t a confirmed casting decision, but I read here it would be Kevin Durand. Rumor on top of rumor. Great.

Then there’s another rumor that Deadpool will also make a cameo, played by Ryan Reynolds. He’s been thrown around so many times in connection with this character and The Flash, so you’ll have to excuse me if I’m skeptical of AICN’s exclusive. Presumably it will be the spin the character off into his own movie. A spin-off from a spin-off? What is going on here?

SuperheroHype says Gambit has also been thrown in the mix to be played by Taylor Kitsch.

Here’s one thing we do know. Wolverine will be released on May 1, 2009… I think.
