Valkyrie is a movie I’m following closely based solely on the players involved. Tom Cruise, love him or hate him, is usually in quality projects, and he’s starring and producing this film. I wrote a story recently when Kenneth Branagh joined the cast. Plus directing is Bryan Singer (Superman Returns) and writing is Christopher McQuarrie (Way of the Gun). Both were also involved in one of my favorite movies of all time, The Usual Suspects.

Today Variety confirmed and announced that a few more great actors have been added to the bunch.

Tom Wilkinson (pictured left) will play Gen. Friedrich Fromm.

Bill Nighy (Davy Jones in Pirates 2 and 3) will play Genl. Friedrich Olbricht.

Carice Van Houten (a sexy, yet unknown woman in the States) plays Cruise’s character’s wife, Nina Von Stauffenberg.

Comedian and transvestite bad ass Eddie Izzard plays Gen. Erich Fellgiebel. No reports on whether he will dress in drag as a general.

Also not sure who all those real people are, but there you go. History buffs, have a field day.
Valkyrie is based on a true story about a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler during World War II. No release date yet.
