James Cameron and Fox are in discussions about re-releasing the December blockbuster Avatar in theaters, as well as a possible release of 1997’s hit Titanic in 3D.

This weekend Avatar inched within striking distance of Cameron’s own Titanic at the worldwide box office. Monday numbers confirmed the 20th Century Fox release officially took the box office crown, earning $1.859 billion in 39 days.
