Yesterday there was a hoopla over a Pez dispenser with the supposed visage of The Amazing Spider-Man villain The Lizard. It was sadly the first look at Rhys Ifans’ reptilian character since shooting, when we saw glimpses of a green leotard underneath hood and coats. Otherwise, we’ve seen and heard little from Sony’s too-soon reboot, outside of a first-person crawl over NYC rooftops and a few shots of Andrew Garfield in the iconic costume.
Strangely enough, it was Pez that gave us the first look at Lizard and re-opened the floodgates. Today, a piece of concept art at SpiderMedia.ru has a less plastic look at the creature… or one of his scaly cronies. A rumor circulated in February that The Lizard actually commands a small army of other reptilian fighters, specifically a S.W.A.T. team of lizard men. Maybe Dr. Curt Connor’s DNA tampering has an effect on more than himself?
The concept art below closely resembles the rendered footage of him at Comic-Con, only The Lizard was “more massive in the clip,” according to ComingSoon.
What do you think? Like it? Or are you still upset they’re rebooting Spider-Man already?
The Amazing Spider-Man is set for July 3, 2012.
