Lindsay Lohan has been fired from Inferno, the Linda Lovelace biopic, following her numerous stints in rehab, legal troubles, and generally unreliable behavior.
Writer-director Matthew Wilder has been shockingly supportive up to this point, waiting patiently while the 24-year-old former actress’ countless attempts to overcome her addictions to drugs and alcohol. A cynical person might think Wilder was using her for the free publicity, since the movie’s title made an appearance in almost every story about Lohan’s personal decline and disappearing career.
“We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support … Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her — and some other issues — have made it impossible for us to go forward,” Wilder told E! Online.
Lohan will be replaced by 32-year-old actress Malin Akerman, according to Deadline. The script, which made the 2008 Black List, centers on the adult film actress and star of the vintage porn movie Deep Throat. It’s not a smart move for Akerman though, whose performance will be overshadowed by Lohan’s continuing trainwreck.
Meanwhile, Lohan’s last dangling prospect in Hollywood has vanished, dooming her to television work, at best. No sane producer will hire her given her current flaky state. She’s a liability to any production, not an asset. Ironically, there’s always porn.
