‘Yogi Bear’ Teaser Trailer Will Make You Cringe

Published by Jeff Leins on July 28, 2010

Warner Bros has just released the cringe-inducing teaser trailer for Yogi Bear, a live-action/CGI hybrid that makes Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties look like Alvin and the Chipmunks.  Dan Aykroyd, who voices the titular talking bear, introduces the clip to remind you the studio wasted their money on a celebrity voice.  Even worse, ubiquitous entertainer Justin Timberlake squeaks out the vocals of Yogi’s shoddily animated sidekick Boo Boo.

I probably shouldn’t care — it’s intended for children — but I’m embarrassed for anyone involved and, come Christmas, I’ll be pouring one out for the poor parents dragged to see it.

Watch it below, if you must, or over at Yahoo:

Synopsis: Jellystone Park has been losing business, so greedy Mayor Brown decides to shut it down and sell the land. That means families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors — and, even worse, Yogi and Boo Boo will be tossed out of the only home they’ve ever known. Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is “smarter than the average bear” as he and Boo Boo join forces with their old nemesis Ranger Smith to find a way to save Jellystone Park from closing forever.

Im not going to lie I dont see whats looks so horrible. Yeah sure it looks like a definite kids movie but i really dont think it looks as bad as Jeff's saying. I mean the 3D always scares me because that crap just needs to stop but the trailer didn't call out to me flop like maybe Piranha 3D did. Also I hope Jeff that your not saying Alvin and the Chipmunks (the recent movies) were actually good??

Piranha 3D is meant to be campy, this one is just embarrassing. As for Chipmunks, I was just trying to get cute about all the live-action/CGI movies looking and feeling the same, but yes, the first Alvin was better than most, especially Garfield.

Agreed it was better than Garfield but I would say it still falls in the same level of movies like this. As far as my remarks to 3D im just saying the damn trend needs to end because its starting to give me a headache and reach out after objects that are "not" closer than they appear haha. All in all I feel like from the trailer I don't get the chills (except when Dan intros it with the have assed yogi bear voice) and don't feel like its any worse then the rest.
