Fox Developing ‘Ice Road Truckers’ Movie

Published by Jeff Leins on June 30, 2010

Ice Road TruckersFox and Max Payne director John Moore are preparing a feature film adaptation of the TV series “Ice Road Truckers.”

Deadline reports Moore wants the make the 3D production his next film after casting fell apart on Northern Lights, a stunt aviation movie that briefly had Taylor Lautner attached.  The studio has been developing a movie since February 2008 when the rights were acquired and the project went out to screenwriters.

Currently in its fourth season, “Truckers” is a reality series on the History Channel — how is this history? — about 18-wheeler drivers hauling supplies to remote locations over wide stretches of ice.  So, basically, just like it sounds.

I’d much rather see a movie based on “The Deadliest Catch,” a series that unfortunately lived up to its name recently when Captain Phil Harris, one of the crab fishermen and show’s stars, died of a stroke.  The episode reached a record-breaking 5.4 million viewers.
