The Sun has the first official image of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s The Tourist, starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. The film was originally supposed to star Tom Cruise and Charlize Theron, but several shift changes later (including one with Sam Worthington in the lead), we got this dream pairing of Hollywood favorites.
Depp plays a naive tourist lured into a cat-and-mouse game of henchmen and government agencies tracking a known thief with an unknown face. Naturally, the stunning Jolie does the seducing and soon Depp is fleeing through Venice in a Bourne-like escape without knowing who is after him or why. I reviewed an early draft of the script, in case you’re interested in further details.
Although it was original a French film, here is the first image from the American remake:

The Tourist is scheduled for a U.S. release on February 16, 2011.
