Gary Oldman has joined the voice cast of DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom.
The veteran actor will lends his vocals to a character cleverly named Peacock who helps Po (Jack Black) find a group of bandits. But, as THR puts it, the bird is “more than he seems.” I have no idea what that means, but I’m sure it has to do with colorful tail feathers.
These are the first story details we’ve heard about the 3D animated sequel, which apparently centers on Po’s quest to find more pandas. No word on what other voice actors will return, but I’m assuming the Furious Five will be back which includes Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, and David Cross.
Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman was recently brought in for a script “polish.”
I have a feeling this small announcement was well-timed to get me to mention DWA’s Shrek Forever After hitting theaters this weekend. Well, I’m not falling for… damnit.
