New Breaking Dawn Deal Details, Eclipse Clip

Published by Jeff Leins on May 13, 2010

Kellan Lutz and Ashley GreeneEarlier this week we wrote about the continuing, behind-the-scenes saga to turn The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn into two separate films.  In order for Summit Entertainment to milk the cash cow one more time they need to renegotiation the contracts of all the cast members who only agreed to four films.

Their plan hit a snag when “the Cullen kids” — Ashley Greene (Alice), Kellan Lutz (Emmett), Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale), and Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale) — held up the fifth movie by banding together and asking for considerably more cash at the negotiating table.

Entertainment Weekly is now reporting the foursome wanted $4 million a piece for each of the two remaining movies, though the figure remains unconfirmed by the studio.  I’m not entirely sure if that’s accurate since the deal is only for the final (fifth) movie.

While Reed (and possibly Rathbone) eventually settled for between $750,000 and $1 million, Greene and Lutz are reportedly still holding out.  The duo believes the supporting actors log as many hours on set and and on the road publicizing the film and should be paid accordingly.  Meanwhile, the studio is threatening to replace them, like they did with Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria between the second and third installments.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson made a reported $7.5 million salary (plus gross percentages) for this June’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and 18-year-old Taylor Lautner has upped his quote as he becomes increasingly, inexplicably sought after in Hollywood.  All three are close to finalizing their deals in which they’ll receive “big raises.”

While I still believe it’s crazy to bite the hand that’s fed them, I appreciate their frustration.  Summit stands to reap over $700 million (what New Moon made globally) for each of the Breaking Dawn parts for well over $1 billion in total ticket sales alone.  Tossing an extra million or two at the actors who helped them get there shouldn’t be too much to ask.

Enough of that drama though, right?  Let’s move on to Eclipse news.  Below I’ve include a brand new banner for the IMAX release (click to enlarge to humongo-size), a brand new clip from the sequel, and the official soundtrack listing release yesterday.  Enjoy!
