The screenwriting trio behind the underrated comedy Role Models are back together again. David Wain, Ken Marino, and Paul Rudd wrote a film titled Wanderlust, which will pair Rudd with perpetual rom-com actress Jennifer Aniston.
Judd Apatow and Rudd will produce and Wain will direct for Universal who hopes to start the production this September.
The Hollywood Reporter says the story follows a married couple who attempts to escape modern society and winds up in a hippie commune. Then they learn their former life wasn’t so bad after all. Okay, that second part I made up, but it’s probably true. The word “wanderlust” essentially means a strong desire to wander or travel the Earth.
Can we all just agree that Aniston is over-exposed, especially in romantic comedies? I’d love to go off on how she’s played the same role countless times, but I’ll let Terry’s excellent post last month provide the commentary. As for the rest, Apatow, Wain, Marino and Rudd is the kind of dream team you look for in a comedy. I’m excited for this and I’ll be crossing my fingers for “scheduling conflicts” that bring in another actress.
