Natalie Portman is producing and starring in the stoner comedy Best Buds. Her production company, Handsome Charlie Films, is currently searching for a director to take on the script by Jamie Denbo.
Portman is ready to prove that marijuana isn’t just for the men. Pajiba reports the independently-financed comedy is in the same vein as Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle in that it’s a road trip while high. Two best female friends travel to their friend’s wedding to save her by bringing her weed.
No word on who is playing either of the titular friends, but judging from the far out, vacant look of Kristen Stewart, she’d be perfect. But can she do comedy?
Meanwhile, Portman’s other stoner comedy, Your Highness, has been test screening in preparation for an October release. The early buzz (pun intended?) is overwhelmingly positive with most commenting on its hilarity and R-rated nudity, plus an easy comparison to Pineapple Express “in medieval times.”
The 28-year-old actress is currently working on Thor and will follow that up with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
