The South by Southwest Film Festival has unleashed the full list of film panels (80+ total) and short films (130) for 2010.
Among them is a dream line-up of horror writers, directors, and producers for the panel “Directing the Dead: Genre Directors Spill Their Guts” moderated by fellow movie journo Scott Weinberg of FearNet/Cinematical. The discussion will combine Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves, Hostel’s Eli Roth, The House of the Devil director Ti West, and Quentin Tarantino. Wow.
That’s going to be one packed room that Saturday. It’ll be unbelievable to see them all up on one epic stage, and a bonus to see how Weinberg’s able to reign in the notoriously long-winded Tarantino. Side note: I saw a panel with Weinberg on it at SxSW 2009 and he tends to talk too…
Plus David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, and Jody Hill, the founders of Rough House Pictures, will return to the festival to talk about making movies and their HBO show “Eastbound and Down.” Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind filmmaker Michel Gondry will converse about his documentary “A Thorn in the Heart,” which is playing the fest. A few of the stars and crew behind spotlight premieres Kick-Ass and MacGruber are scheduled to answer questions too. For those who won’t be here in Austin March 12-20, I’ll be blogging, live-Tweeting, and carrier-pigeoning as many panels as I’m physically able to attend.
I should probably stop listing panels I’ll be attending now and instead just link you to the full list of 80+ entries. Take a look at the line-up here. You can also find the full list of short films right here. Enjoy and hit me up on Twitter if you’ll be attending the festival next month.
