‘Robin Hood’ Super Bowl Commercial

Universal Pictures has released the Super Bowl spot for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.  The 45-second ad plays more like a trailer, establishing the May 14 release as an origin story for Robin and his band of not-so-merry men.  I guess that’s what you might expect when reuniting the Gladiator team.

Although, it looks a bit more like Braveheart, even including an actor yelling a drawn out word.  Nope, not “Freedooooom!”  Watch it and find out:

    Looks like Scott is talking is taking a bit of a chance given the amount of movies that have been made on this historical character, but he may succeed by tackling it from another angle and casting Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett into it. Ridley Scott is a very talented director and if anyone can do it he should definately be the one.

  • i think they're missing a bit of the point from the trailers i've seen, robin hoood always seemed like a laid back devil-may-care antihero to me, not an uptight warmonger-but i'm still pumped seeing as who's involved.
