Danny McBride is reuniting with director Jody Hill for another film project, this time an action comedy titled L.A.P.I.
Details are scarce at the moment, but the story will center on a hardboiled, beaten down personal investigator played by McBride. Writers Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan wrote the script and pitched the idea to Hill, who will likely add in some uncomfortable moments where the character tells someone how awesome he is. Diliberti and Sullivan had two scripts on the Black List last year.
The film will be the first under their new production company, Rough House Pictures co-created by McBride, Hill, and film school buddy David Gordon Green, aimed at bringing more of their aggressive, politically incorrect brand of humor to the screen. 2006’s Foot Fist Way was their breakout collaboration, but the duo worked together on HBO’s continuing “Eastbound and Down” and briefly on Hill’s Observe and Report.
