George Lucas Producing a Musical with Fairies

Published by Jeff Leins on: January 28th, 2010

George LucasGeorge Lucas, the mastermind behind the Star Wars franchise, is producing a CGI musical that may feature fairies.  Seriously.  This is happening.

The Heat Vision Blog is reporting the top-secret project and punchline of every joke for the next decade is being kept under wraps at Lucasfilm.  But the outlet was able to learn Kevin Munroe (2007’s TMNT, the upcoming Dead of Night) is directing the CGI creation for Lucas and David Berenbaum (Elf, Spiderwick Chronicles) wrote the screenplay.

Lucasfilm refuses to comment, saying its too early to discuss details.  That’s smart.  You want people mocking the movie based purely on the assumption that it’s a film full of singing Tinkerbells.  Now would be the time to tell everyone there are ninjas with lightsabers or something capable of offsetting musical fairies.

Meanwhile, Lucas is executive producing Red Tails, a passion project he wrote about the Tuskegee airmen during World War II.  I’m curious to see how many action figures he’s able to sell with that movie.

Those left stunned by the collective awfulness of the prequels can forget Jar Jar Binks.  Ignore midichlorians.  Pretend Anakin never built C-3PO.  Now, I’ll leave you with this one word: Fairies.  Musical.  Ok, two words.

  • well well! fairies aren't a silly answer r they? *memories circa 05 in ireland!*

I can't wait to see this movie. It's got my two favorite things, musicals and fairies!! Has anyone else ever wondered why Lucas's beard only covers 1/5 of his throat?
