Summit Entertainment has announced The Twilight Saga: New Moon is scheduled to be released in stores Saturday, March 20, 2010. The two disc special edition will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray and pre sales start at the end of January. Click the cover art on the right for a larger image.
The special features will include an audio commentary by director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert, a six part documentary of behind-the-scenes footage, rehearsal video of Muse performing their song from the film, and three music videos. Sorry, no narration from Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner, girls. Maybe next time.
“Frosty” at Collider wants to know what happened to the 10 minutes of deleted scenes Weitz promised him in interview last November. Perhaps the clips and the commentaries are part of a bigger plan for a super special edition or an ultra “you’re not a real fan unless you buy this” box set.
The original Twilight was released on almost the exact same date last year (Saturday, March 21) and sold 3 million copies in the first 24 hours. By this month it has sold 10 million discs for a total of $183.6 million. For comparison, the theatrical release made $192.8 million in the States.
