Lucas Discusses Star Wars on Daily Show

Published by Jeff Leins on January 7, 2010

While promoting his latest book “Blockbusting,” George Lucas stopped in at Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” on Tuesday where Jon Stewart bombarded him with Star Wars questions.  The host wasted no time in jumping into the type of things fanboys want to know, including everything from the logic of “disturbances in the force” to how he copes with continuing criticism over the prequels.  Not surprisingly, Lucas smugly tells of a younger generation enjoying characters like Jar Jar Binks and suffering through “The Clone Wars” on Cartoon Network.  Keep telling yourself that, George.

Stewart tiptoes around asking if Lucas has any creativity left, but the best line comes when Stewart talks about how he responded when his son said his favorite movie was The Phantom Menace.  “No it isn’t!”

Also, in case you haven’t seen it yet, there’s a 70-minute review of Episode I available on YouTube.  I know, that’s a long time for one review, but trust me it’s hilarious and a scathing look at how that movie makes absolutely no sense.
