Shrek Forever After Teaser Trailer and Poster

The fourth and final Shrek movie, Shrek Forever After, now has a teaser trailer and a poster.  I’m not sure if I’m excited about the new promotional materials or that it’s the last one being made.  It’s the latter. DreamWorks Animation may be moving on with sequels to the successful Kung Fu Panda, but not before one last withdrawal from the Shrek bank (now with 3-D premium bonuses).

The story is a fairy tale rehash of It’s a Wonderful Life where Shrek “falls victim to a terrible curse” by the evil Rumpelstiltskin and sees what Far Far Away is like without him.  Mike Myers returns to voice the lovable ogre, along with Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and Antonio Banderas, who is getting his own spin-off when Puss in Boots comes out in 2011.

After challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess and saving your in-laws’ kingdom, what’s an ogre to do? Well, if you’re Shrek, you suddenly wind up a domesticated family man. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, a reluctant Shrek now agrees to autograph pitch forks. What’s happened to this ogre’s roar? Longing for the days when he felt like a “real ogre,” Shrek is duped into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Now, it’s up to Shrek to undo all he’s done in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world and reclaiming his one True Love.
