Mark Wahlberg, executive producer and the loose inspiration for “Entourage,” said he wants to make at least two more seasons of the HBO show before making a movie with the characters.
Hollywood gossip hound and X-Men Origins: Wolverine pirate Roger Friedman cornered Wahlberg at a premiere after-party. Nevermind the guy wants to have a good time and celebrate The Lovely Bones, now he has to answer questions from this hen.
Wahlberg told him that there are two seasons left of the show, which would take it into 2011. “We’ll see, there could be more. But then, a movie,” Wahlberg added.
Entourage: The Movie? Why? The show peaked and has nothing left. What was once the male alternative to “Sex and the City” has become a formulaic soap opera for dudes. “Drama” did something stupid again? Unbelievable. Vinnie Chase “banged” another broad? Do tell. High fives all around, bro.
Of course Wahlberg wants more seasons and a movie! He does hardly anything with the show but collect a paycheck while his buddies get to keep working and stretch this sliding series for a seventh and eighth season. Then Wahlberg kicks back while the cast makes a movie because, frankly, what else are they going to do?
Adrien Grenier is an awful actor with zero good movie performances. Sure, he showed up in Devil Wears Prada, but he was a side note to Hathaway and Streep. Kevin Dillon’s only movie in the past three years? Hotel For Dogs. Then there’s Jerry “Turtle” Ferrara in (you guessed it) nothing. Kevin Connolly seems to be the only one appearing in films regularly, but that’s because he was doing that before HBO.
They want more “Entourage” because it keeps them employed and Wahlberg gets to make Sex and the City money from throwing the show on the big screen. Just stop it. It’s not funny or clever anymore.
