First Look: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Warner Bros has released the first official image from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. The seventh and final book by J.K. Rowling is being split into halves with part one arriving November 2010, and the second part and last Potter movie hitting theaters July 2011.

If you’re disappointed by the picture, don’t worry, the first Harry Potter image released is always uninteresting. For example, here’s the snoozer pic from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince or the sleep spell that is the first image for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The cast has been on set filming the back-to-back sequels since April 2009, but details are starting to emerge as WB is reminding everyone there’s more Potter on the way. In an on-set interview with Sky News, Daniel Radcliffe said, “We barely spend any time at Hogwarts. I’ve been here for eight months and I’ve not filmed a single scene in the great hall, which is unheard of. I’m quite excited.”

Rupert Grint describes the wizards’ adventure into the Muggle realm. “It’s quite a scary world because the Snatchers and Death Eaters are running around everywhere. Harry, Ron and Hermione are just camping out in random places, living rough, in regular clothes.” Director David Yates added, “we’re pulling away from the magic and bringing more reality into it.”

Another interview with Yates revealed a bit about Radcliffe’s reveal. It seems after his naked turn in the stage show Equus, the young actor has no problem stripping down for Deathly Hallows. As long as it’s tastefully done, of course.

In one scene, “a horcrux [carrying a piece of Voldemort’s soul] defends itself by producing nightmarish visions, and one shows Hermione and Harry embracing and kissing,” explained Yates. “It’s something intriguing and sensual for Rupert to react to, and Dan will be bare for that.” Who hasn’t had a naked wizard sex dream?
