Kat Dennings is joining the cast of Marvel’s Thor, another positive addition to an already stellar line-up.
I know I’ve already listed the Thor cast a number of times, but glance over these names again and imagine how awesome this is going to be with Kenneth Branagh at the helm.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Jamie Alexander (Sif), Ray Stevenson (Volstagg), Stuart Townsend (Fandral), Tadanobu Asano (Hogun), Colm Feore, and Stellan Skarsgard. Plus Idris Elba was just added.
Natalie Portman, who also stars as Jane Foster, told MTV she’s most looking forward to working with Dennings, which was news to everyone else because she hadn’t been announced yet.
Marvel is keeping the Dennings role a secret, but HeyuGuys (via Slashfilm) worked out who Dennings might be playing. Here’s the casting breakdown of the potential part:
“[MARCY LEWIS] (20) Is a college student. Aloof, jaded beyond her years, she thought her internship with scientist Kate Spelling would be an easy 6 college credits. However, she’s been stuck for months in this small New Mexico town and relegated to a wide range of unglamorous activities. Kate has been particularly hard on Marcy, making it her personal project to see that Marcy lives up to her potential. Marcy deals with her situation both by using subtle irony and by being an overt wiseass.”
Dennings is a beautiful, young actress who has sadly been typecast already in sarcastic, eye-roller roles as the sassy love interest of several awkward teenage boys. This part is likely shaping up to be more of the same (only this time as a sassy sidekick), but that’s okay with me. Her bountiful lips and even bigger breasts are welcome to shine into my corneas any time.
Thor is scheduled to start shooting in January for a release on May 20, 2011
