Summit Entertainment’s cash cow is grazing and fattening itself for November’s milking. A little over a month before the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the studio is kicking up a promotional blitz that will stir its rabid fans into a frenzy and effectively annoy anyone who saw the original as a cheesy teenage romance.
The critics will be ignored, of course, as this is essentially the female Transformers. Instead of giant robots fighting each other and scantily clad women, the sequel is vampires fighting each other and scantily clad men. They’re virtually the same really, especially in terms of quality.
With that being said, it’s likely the Twilighters (or Twi-Hards, whatever they’re calling themselves) have skipped over these paragraphs and straight to the umpteenth set of pictures of Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart.
In this weekend’s special edition release of People Magazine, director Chris Weitz said, “Twilight is about first love; New Moon is about heartbreak,” says the film’s director Chris Weitz. “That requires the actors to go to some very dark places.”
Oh, I almost forgot, the New Moon soundtrack has been moved up to Friday, October 16 due to “overwhelming and unprecedented” demand.
