“The current cut concludes with Katie being dragged from the bed by an unseen force.” <— Ummm no it doesn't? Did you actually see the movie? The night with her being dragged out of bed is the 2nd to last night. In the final scene she gets up and stands over him for 2 hours, then walks downstairs, then we hear the scream, and see the ending.
