i so wanted to see this film , having owned the book many years ago , i have to say i found the film a bit of a let down , a little bit too intense , about a childs anger , each monster having a bit of maxs problems , the film is not for children , its for 44 year olds like myself , that remember that monsters are not all that bad , when you gaze at the book , the monster in the film are very much like in the book , looking at them you just want to cuddle them , until that is they talk and bore us all silly , this film could have been so good ,, the effects spot on , the monsters spot on , the story weak .... but i did not care , as it brought all my childhood back to me , , dont take you child to watch this film , buy the book , and you go see it ,if your over 40 that is , have to say the music was stunning , and that made the film for me ,, my rating for this film is ... if your a child 1 out of 5 . if your over 40 and you had the book 4 out of 5 ,soundtrack 5 out of 5 , ,

i personally thought it was as perfect as i imagined it would be...<br>sure, the overall feel was dark and troubled but it addressed problems that older people would understand, which is fitting considering the audience that was introduced to this, back in the day, are grown now. everyone i've asked loves it.. bottom line

I saw this movie last night with my six year old son and it was horrible. The characters where depressing and angry. The story was not easy for those under 14 to follow with all of the emotional battles they were facing. Too emotionally violent and angry. The movie had great effects and was visually appealing, but that's it. I would have left early and asked for my money back had it not been a free ticket.
