Michael Bay Announces Transformers 3 in 2011

Published by Jeff Leins on: October 1st, 2009

Michael BayMichael Bay has officially announced Transformers 3 as his next project and confirmed the release date of July 1, 2011.

In a post from his official blog, Bay said, “Today is day one” as he flies to Rhode Island with screenwriter Ehren Kruger to discuss new characters with Hasbro.  This after meeting with ILM this morning to discuss the no doubt numerous visual effects.

After the completion of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Paramount and DreamWorks promised a release two years from now, but in typical Michael Bay fashion he threw a fit.  The explosion-happy director wanted to take a year off between giant robot movies to relax and focus on a smaller project titled Pain and Gain (more on that here).

Looks like he backpedaled again.  At the time he cried, “that would mean I would have to start prep in September!”  Exactly.  No matter how big of a director Bay may be or thinks he is, there’s always someone higher up pulling the strings.  At the end of his post, Bay clarifies Pain and Gain will come immediately after a third Transformers.  Then again, we could see him jump right into Bad Boys 3 or I Am Number 4 instead.

Megan Fox will definitely be returning, contractually obligated or otherwise, despite her crazy public remarks comparing Bay to Hitler and Napoleon.  Bay confirms this with an unfunny aside to the actress herself:  “Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.”

Another two years of this…
