Jessica Alba is in negotiations to join Little Fockers, the third installment after Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers.
Alba will play a pharmaceutical rep “whose looks wreak havoc on male characters in the story,” according to the Risky Business Blog. The ogling guys are the returning Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, and Owen Wilson, and the jealous females are Teri Polo and Blythe Danner.
Universal has replaced exited helmer Jay Roach with director Paul Weitz (Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant) and production is expected start before the end of 2009. The studio has had luck with the holiday months, so I’d guess a late 2010 release followed by another $200+ million gross.
The plot is expected to follow the Fockers natural progression into parenting with the birth of a baby (or two, there may be twins). Alba took some time off to have a baby herself and will make a comeback in theaters next year with at least four movies: Machete, Valentine’s Day, The Killer Inside Me, and this.
She’s beautiful, there’s no question about that, but her addition to the cast doesn’t make me any more excited for a third Fockers movie. The second one was cringe-worthy, and luckily they’ve dumped Hoffman and Streisand. I’d like to think they’ve toned down the wackiness too, but this is a Ben Stiller movie we’re talking about.
What do you think? Done with Alba or glad to see her back?
