While I was on vacation, I missed this little bit of news. Underrated actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is joining the cast of the Red Dawn remake currently under the direction of Dan Bradley. The movie is shooting right now in Michigan for a release exactly a year from today. (Click here for set pics.)
Talking with Collider, Morgan said he will play the Powers Boothe character from the 1984 original (Andy), a pilot that lands in the town and helps the kids quell an invasion by Chinese and Russian soldiers. Also part of the cast are Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Adrianne Palicki, and Connor Cruise (Tom’s son).
He also seemed interested in playing Lobo in the DC Comics movie coming together at Warners with director Guy Ritchie. It would make three comic book movies in roughly three years if he got the part, having appeared in Watchmen and finishing filming on The Losers. Glad to see he’s getting more work, he’s deserves more high profile roles, and not just because I like his first name.
