Boris Kodjoe (part of this weekend’s Surrogates), Wentworth Miller (”Prison Break”), and a returning Ali Larter are joining Milla Jovovich in the fourth Resident Evil installment. Director/producer Paul W.S. Anderson is back behind the camera for Resident Evil: Afterlife, which is currently in pre-production in Toronto.
According to Kodjoe, who was pretty open about his involvement recently on Twitter and in an interview with Black Film, talked a little about the plot.
I’m paraphrasing his run-on sentences, but essentially it involves Alice (Jovovich) roaming the world again looking for survivors. She winds up in L.A., which has been burning for three years, and finds a jail surrounded by the half-dead monsters/zombies. Alice lands on the roof and partners with Kodjoe’s character to fight the creatures and rescue the remaining survivors.
Miller’s character is locked up because they aren’t sure if he’s one of them or not. He comes into play when they’re devising an escape plan. Talk about typecasting. Miller does a few seasons of “Prison Break” and now he’s the one helping the humans get out of jail.
He also added filming starts next week in Toronto. It’s scheduled for a 3-D release in theaters September 27, 2010. A fifth movie is in the works as a possible reboot of the franchise.
