There has been a lot of talk about Paranormal Activity, the latest hand-held, low-budget horror flick headed to theaters. This one, however, is being called “one of the scariest of all-time,” “our generation’s The Exorcist,” and other early positive reviews of the terrifying two-person fright fest.
It has already played Slamdance and Telluride, but it landed the opening slot at this weekend’s Fantastic Fest here in Austin with simultaneous midnight screenings in seven major markets. Paramount has picked it up and plans to hold a few more sneaks as it rolls out from limited release. If you want to see it in your town, there’s an Eventful website set up to “Demand it” for your city. The studio plans to go wide sometime in mid-October.
