Nicolas Cage is Out as ‘Green Hornet’ Villain

Published by Jeff Leins on September 8, 2009

Nicolas Cage will not be playing the villain in The Green Hornet, the action comedy starring Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz.  Cage was “in talks” for the role as far back as July 2009, but the Oscar-winning (remember?) actor was never able to come to a financial agreement with Columbia.  Could this movie be plagued with anymore bad luck?

Meanwhile, filming has already started under the direction of Michel Gondry in Los Angeles where a stunt accident occurred today.  According to THR, no Cage scenes were shot yet, but now the studio has to find a bad guy before time runs out.  I hope someone is filming all of this because the production woes may end up being more interesting than the movie itself.

The studio original scheduled the release for next July, but delays and cast problems have pushed it back to December 17, 2010.  Unfortunately, the spot is also occupied by Tron Legacy now, so I fully expect another shift.

Since this is barely news, here are a few set pictures for you via SuperHeroHype. Check out Jay Chou as Kato:

In this day and time when we need more "Hero's" on the silver screen, why does the "Green Hornet" movie have to be an action comedy? Why can't it just be a KICK ASS, NAME TAKING movie??
