Actor Says There Will Be FIVE Twilight Films

Published by Jeff Leins on: August 25th, 2009

More speculation fodder for the growing die-hard fans of Twilight.  Some kid named Boo Boo Stewart told Access Hollywood something he wasn’t supposed to.  Apparently the little blabbermouth plays Seth Clearwater in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which is currently shooting in Vancouver, so he might have a little insight into the continuing series.  But not much.

In a poorly-produced interview by Access Hollywood, Stewart answered softball questions about being in the movie.  The 15-year-old entertainer toured with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, so he’s perfect for this crowd.

Then he told the overexcited host that he had signed for three films.  Count them out on your fingers, kids.  This means the third movie (Eclipse), the fourth novel (Breaking Dawn), and an undisclosed film based on an unpublished, non-existent novel.

Summit Entertainment quickly denied Stewart’s claims.  They released this statement: “We appreciate our young actor’s enthusiasm for the franchise and his role, but his comments about the number of films were unfortunately uninformed and not accurate.” The Summit representative confirmed Stewart was contractually obligated for three movies, but this is typical when signing onto an established franchise.  So who are you going to believe?  A teenager named Boo Boo or the studio in charge of the series?

Breaking Dawn hasn’t officially been announced by Summit Entertainment, but in May Robert Pattinson said he would be back for the fourth movie.  Kristen Stewart signed a similar contract.  Plus earlier reports confirmed Summit picked up the rights to all four novels by Stephenie Meyer.  No word on when the fourth will go into production but the Winter Olympics will be underway in February 2010, the rumored slot for the sequel, so don’t count on that happening.

A fifth movie could happen, especially if the series continues to follow in the footsteps of the other successful novel adaptations: Harry Potter.  Warner Bros is splitting J.K. Rowling’s seventh and final novel into two movies for creative and financial purposes, so Summit may very well be thinking the same.  The producers have hinted at possible spin-offs before, so they’re clearly interested in milking this cash cow as long as Meyer and the fans will let them.

Do I even have to ask if Twilight fans want a fifth movie?

I disagree with the PP; the book can easily be divided into two sections...trouble with the wolves and trouble with the Volturi. There is a tiny lull between the two problems where things are calm and routine that provides a natural conclusion (until the point of Irina's visit). While it is true that a larger portion of the book is devoted to the section about wolves/marriage/births, the latter half is IMHO way more action-packed.

It Means breaking dawn is going to be made into 2 movies end of story!

Splitting Breaking Dawn into two films is highly unlikely for a blatantly obvious reason: there is simply NO good way to cut the book in half, and no logical place in the storyline to just cut it short and save the rest for later. This plot just doesn't play out like that.

The wedding happens within the first 20 pages of the book -- not even 5 percent of the way into the story -- and the center 80 percent of the book is all about Bella's troubled honeymoon-come-problem-pregnancy, which finally migrates over three very complicated months into her near-death and transformation right after the birth of Renesmee. But the birth is literally 82 percent of the way through the book. There just isn't enough story left at that point to stretch the remnant into a separate film, making it unjustifiable not only scriptwise but also financially in terms of the cost of filming such a thin second film. Besides, fans would be livid if you tried to end the film just as the baby is born: a year-long cliffhanger like that, especially given that everyone who's read the books knows what happens next anyway, doesn't work in cinema. Three months' gap in a TV season for that sort of not-really-a-cliffhanger, maybe -- but not for a film series. A film franchise requires that each film have a clear-cut resolution before moving on to the next story. It's just the nature of the beast. Fact.

All in all,. better to make a longer film with Breaking Dawn and do right by the story than to run up costs, weaken the story, and piss off your fan base all at the same time.

I also think that the Breaking Dawn novel is going to be splitted in two movie, because in an interview of Stephenie Meyer, I heard she said that if the final novel was going to be a film, it would have to be divided into 2 sub-films, cause there is so much going on in that novel and 1 single movie just can't be that long. But, who knows what is going to happen, maybe a 5th movie IS really going to be

well is depends. for one point of view, i believe that it would be the best option because the fourth book is too long to be done in one movie, however they could make a long movie and get over with. I mean think about how long we have waited to see the end of Harry Potter? and the end is not even near to come. I think it is hard to decide which is the best option, but in my opinion, a longer movie would be better that way we all can see the end and be happy with it and watch over and over... and over hehehe.
  • hey, dony by horrible to boo boo. hes the greatist guy i know and he was very nervous but exited about getting this role and he wants to get it right fot the fans.
