Brett Ratner Wants Pattinson for ‘Youngblood’

Published by Jeff Leins on: August 13th, 2009

When Brett Ratner says anything it’s usually met with a groan, but this time he’s testing the limits of eye rolling.  When MTV (the T stands for Twilight now) talked to Ratner about possible stars for his adaptation of the Youngblood comic book, the director had a popular name in mind.

“Definitely Robert Pattinson from Twilight,” Ratner told MTV News. “He just feels like he belongs in that world. I don’t only see him as a vampire, he’s a really good actor.” Apparently he also sees him as a way to make easy headlines…

The series is about a superhero team sanctioned by the U.S. government.  Think Fantastic Four only slightly cooler.  Just don’t think X-Men: Last Stand, because Ratner botched that one too.  Pattinson would likely play the leader, “Shaft,” a former FBI agent and expert archer.

I highly doubt Ratner will get what he wants for this already bad idea.  Who’s to say Pattinson is even interested in lowering himself to this?  Next the filmmaker will ask for Johnny Depp, the favorite for any make believe movie wish list.  It isn’t like Ratner is a high-powered director in Hollywood either.  He’s the talentless center of the Hack Directors Venn Diagram for God’s sake.

We all want things.  I want a shiny new car, an ice cream sandwich, and Jessica Alba.  She wants nothing to do with me.  Robert Pattinson fans want… Robert Pattinson.  We don’t always get what we want.  That’s life.  However, if we pool all of our desires into one focused plea maybe we can get what we all want: Brett Ratner to stop making movies.
