Summit Entertainment announced the trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be playing this weekend in front of their movie Bandslam, a who-cares PG comedy about a battle of the bands. This is either going to do wonders for the movie or start a mass exodus after the previews are finished.
In case the Twilight fans aren’t already hyped for the November release, Summit is prepping a 14-second teaser of the theatrical trailer tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at 9am EST/6am PDT. I’m preparing in my own way by wearing earplugs that morning. Just as a precaution. No one wants to go deaf because Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner took their shirts off again.
(Update: You can see the clip right here. I was right about the shirtlessness.)
As for the full theatrical trailer, I would expect a bootleg version on YouTube later this week. Bandslam opens in the U.K. on the Wednesday, so if Summit attaches the trailer to every print you’ll get a grainy glimpse as early as mid-week.
While I acknowledge the sound business decision to turn Twilighters onto their little teen comedy, I never understood holding a trailer that will inevitably be all over the Internet immediately. Previous trailers have posted record-setting views, now they want their rabid fans to see a poor quality copy first? Summit should know better by now. After all, they’re the ones who started this feeding frenzy.
In related news, Twilight swept the Teen Choice Awards Sunday Night with 11 wins.
