Fox has released the theatrical trailer for The Fantastic Mr. Fox, an animated film from Wes Anderson. The reactions from around the web have been mixed, but my quick opinion is it looks as bad as I thought from the stills. The choppy animation is old school and the animal design still looks like taxidermy. There are a few charming jokes scattered in, but even as an Anderson fan I’m confused by the appeal.
Based on the book by Roald Dahl, the film focuses on a crafty fox (voiced by George Clooney) who finds himself and his family targeted for death by the three dumb, plug-ugly farmers who tire of sharing their chickens with the critter. The film also features the voices of Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Meryl Streep.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox is out November 13, 2009.
