Darren Aronofsky is moving forward with Black Swan, his supernatural thriller about a ballerina in New York City. Mila Kunis will star opposite Natalie Portman in the film starting this fall.
The film is about a dancer (Portman) who is tormented by a rival (Kunis) who may or may not be a figment of her imagination. “Strange occurrences” increase between the two as they prepare for a big performance, according to the Hollywood Reporter announcement. Portman is a classically trained dancer, but Kunis does not have any formal training in ballet.
Kunis’ breakout role was Jackie on “That 70’s Show,” but she’s also gained notoriety as the voice of Meg on “Family Guy” and her part in last year’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She attended this weekend’s Comic-Con to promote the cartoon show, her supporting role in The Book of Eli, and Mike Judge’s new comedy, Extract. Kunis also has a recurring role in my heart.
Aronofsky’s RoboCop reboot has been delayed while he works on this project. It was originally set up at Universal, but is currently without distribution. The likely candidate is Fox Searchlight, who picked up The Wrestler after its production.
