President of Production at Marvel Studios Kevin Feige attended the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend to help promote the upcoming slate of superhero films, most notably Iron Man 2. The press had their chance to ask him a few questions following the panel, so Collider asked the question we all want the answer to: who is in The Avengers movie?
Unfortunately, Feige rattled off the heroes we already know about. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (???), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) were all confirmed for the team-up flick.
He also added, “I think it’s safe to assume that there will be some members of the Hulk universe in the film as well.” This was followed up with the obvious, “Is the Hulk going to be an Avenger?” to which Feige sidestepped and answered, “You know Zack Penn is outlining it as we speak so we’ll see.” I’d be surprised to see Edward Norton return to the part after the fallout he had over writing duties and the film’s final cut. Then again, the script isn’t finished and things could change.
As for the director, an audience member during the Iron Man panel asked Jon Favreau if he was going to direct Avengers. The director said he hadn’t talked about it with Feige (which seems unlikely) and sort of gave a non-answer. “Avengers doesn’t shoot until we’re done with Iron Man 2… Hopefully the movies will continue to cross-pollinate with each other and be involved with each other,” he told the packed hall. Favreau is certainly the favorite for the job, if he wants it.
