Poster, Trailer for ‘Saw VI,’ Plus ‘Saw VII’ Info

Published by Jeff Leins on July 24, 2009

Saw VILionsgate sent over a teaser poster and trailer for another installment in the torture series, Saw VI.  Right on schedule too as this is when the promotion has ramped up every year in time for the usual late October release.

Costas Mandylor returns as Detective Mark Hoffman, Tobin Bell will likely appear as Jigsaw in flashbacks or recorded footage, and Saw II favorite Shawnee Smith is back in the franchise as Amanda.  The producers, like always, have promised “more violence and better traps” for this one.  The plot will be about teamwork between the captured victims, each making their way through six different traps.

Here is the official synopsis:
Special Agent Strahm is dead, and Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw’s legacy.  However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw’s grand scheme is finally understood.

The team behind the series has said there are eight movies planned for the series, so it should be no surprise work has already begun on Saw VII.  However, it’s news that David Hackl will be back to direct the seventh.  Hackl was the production design in installments 2-4 and directed Saw V.  Screenwriting has already begun and shooting will start in January.
