Seth Rogen, his writing partner Evan Goldberg, and director Michel Gondry unveiled “The Black Beauty” at Comic-Con. The car is for Sony’s The Green Hornet, scheduled for July 9, 2010.
The movie hasn’t started shooting yet, but the crew wanted to show fans something to hype them for next summer’s release. Meanwhile, Gondry, Rogen, and Goldberg are trying to round out the cast.
Seth Rogen is of course playing the lead, the Green Hornet. Stephen Chow was set to play his sidekick Kato (and direct at one point), but has left the project. The production is looking for a replacement and Goldberg is confident they will find one within a week. In discussions for the female love interest is Cameron Diaz, though she hasn’t officially joined yet as far as I’m aware. Nicolas Cage is in negotiations for the villain.
Slashfilm had the opportunity to ask the trio a few questions about what we can expect. While it didn’t include much in the way of new information, here are a few highlights: The story will tell the origins of the Green Hornet and his relationship with Kato. Gondry, who made (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), will add his unique flair to the visuals, including shooting different characters in different speed ratios. The tone will be “True Lies with more action.”
