Cameron Diaz is considering an offer to play the female lead in The Green Hornet, Seth Rogen’s comedy take on the action hero. A deal hasn’t been made yet, but the actress is up for a role written by Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg. Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) is directing for a July 9, 2010 release.
The Entertainment Weekly story doesn’t have further details on what type of part it might be. A love interest? A villain? Kato’s adopted sister? Either way she has proven her ability to keep up with comedy in There’s Something About Mary, her first movie The Mask with Jim Carrey, and to a certain extent her voice work in the Shrek trilogy. I’m personally not the biggest fan of hers and I would rather see a newcomer helped in her career over Diaz’s Joker smile. But I have to admit she’s better than most of the hot, untalented actresses getting much of the public attention (Megan Fox, Jessica Alba, etc).
