‘New Moon’ Movie Spawns New Book Cover

Published by Jeff Leins on June 24, 2009

New MoonThe fanatical followers of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series have been consistently protective of their beloved franchise, generally forgiving the faults of the novels and the movies alike.  People love the vampires so much they’ll support the side projects of even its smallest cast members.  It’s a devotion I guess I can’t describe, only embrace.

Speaking of embraces, fans are finally unhappy with something Twilight-related.  They have been blowing up the Internet with “OMG” comments (some negative this time) since Entertainment Weekly posted the new book cover for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which ties to the upcoming November release.  (It’s pictured left and you can click to enlarge it.)

The hug between Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) is a little too steamy for their liking.  The two characters become closer friends in the second installment, but as one commenter said, “HEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THAT INTIMATE!!!! EWWW!!!!!!!”  Brilliantly stated as usual.

On top of that cataclysmic disaster, “Team Edward” is unhappy about where he’s floating in the cover.  The background image of an expressionless Robert Pattinson isn’t prominent enough for his thousands of stalkers, which is about as funny as when those same types of hysterical fans got him hit by a cab in New York City last week.

Maybe I’m just misinterpreting the caps locked reactions and overused punctuation.  What do you think?  Let me guess, you can’t wait for the movie?
