There is a lot of bad buzz flying around regarding G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Paramount’s stab at another of Hasbro’s toy properties (following Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen). Rumors of director Stephen Sommers being locked out of the editing room after a few disastrous test screenings have been quickly refuted by the studio and others on the movie. However, they’re also battling some early reviews that called it “an ultimate failure.” It’s not looking good.
The marketing team has struck back with… more character posters. Either they’re trying to compete with the new Harry Potter movie for most posters, or people are really clamoring for life size Damon Wayans one sheets. In fairness, they’re pretty cool in a sort of fiery gun sort of way. Still no look at Cobra Commander though… Click to enlarge below, or grab the high-resolution versions at each of these five websites: Ripcord, Storm Shadow, Baroness, Snake-Eyes, and Duke.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is in theaters August 7, 2009.
