Sacha Baron Cohen attended the premiere party for his latest docu-comedy Brüno in Paris last night. The film goes wide in theaters on July 10, less than three years after Cohen pulled outrageous, politically incorrect stunts in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
His latest character is the Austrian, wide-openly gay TV host, Bruno, the third and last of his bits from HBO’s “Da Ali G Show” in 2003-2004.
The Sun has the first official review of the movie, and from the sound of it Cohen still has it. The general consensus it the movie is very funny and pushed the boundaries of decency all over again. Anyone worried about the downgrade from NC-17 to an R rating has no cause for concern. The review is filled with spoilers, but here’s a safe blurb:
When I wasn’t giggling like a 14-year-old, I was cowering behind my hands. And I wasn’t just hiding from the acres of kugelsack, Brüno’s word for the lunchbox, shown during the 90 minutes.
The BBC’s Johnathan Ross also tweeted this:
We just got back from watching Bruno. was very funny. Not as funny as Borat, but funny.
I can’t wait for this. Cohen also appeared nude on the cover of GQ this month, along with several silly pictures inside. Take a look at them on GQ.com.
