David Carradine was found dead in his Bangkok hotel suite Thursday morning. A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Thailand confirmed the actor’s death, but was unable to provide further details. Thailand police sources are claiming Carradine hanged himself with a cord used for the room’s curtains. He was 72 years old.
A police officer would not confirm the identity of the deceased, but did say the Swissotel Nai Lert Park had reported one of the patrons had killed himself, according to the Associated Press. He was discovered by a maid Thursday morning with no signs of an assault.
Carradine was best known for his role as the wandering monk Kwai Chang Caine in the TV series “Kung Fu,” which earned him an Emmy nomination. He played the lead villain in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill and most recently a part in Crank: High Voltage. He appeared in over 100 films in his length career. The actor was in Thailand filming Stretch.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Bierman, and three children.
