20th Century Fox has released a trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks 2. (I refuse to refer to this movie as “The Squeakquel” as Fox insists in the awful title.) It’s just about as awful as it sounds. There’s high-pitched singing, CGI rodents, and the Chipettes. What, no eating feces this time?

There have been rumors since the massive success of the first that Summit Entertainment would shoot the second and third movies in the Twilight saga back-to-back. They turned out to be false, but not far off. Several reports have indicated an early summer shooting schedule for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which wrapped in May, [...]

Dimension Film is developing a remake of John Landis’ An American Werewolf in London. Landis, who wrote and directed the original, sold the rights in exchange for an executive producer credit and the possibility of consulting on the redo.
In the original, two American college students are attacked by a mythical werewolf. One of them becomes [...]

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has made another change to its annual Oscar telecast. Just days after the announcement that “Best Picture” would expand to ten nominees, the organization has altered the voting process for “Best Original Song.”
Instead of selecting three or five of the best songs of the year for the [...]

From Wednesday to Sunday, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen became only the second film ever to make $200 million in five days.
The explosive sequel to Michael Bay’s 2007 original added an additional $109 million over the weekend at the domestic box office to sneak above the coveted threshold and land just under The Dark Knight’s [...]
