Zach Braff and Cameron Diaz are ‘Swingles’

Published by Jeff Leins on May 21, 2009

Zach BraffZach Braff is joining Cameron Diaz in the relationship comedy Swingles.  He’s also in negotiations to direct and rewrite the script, his first feature since the successful indie Garden State.

According to Variety, the story centers on a bachelor who loses his wingman and “teams up with a sharp-tongued woman he can’t stand” to pick up singles.  Braff would actually play a supporting role in the film while the male lead is still unsigned.  The script has been through several drafts.

Despite a heart-felt, lengthy send-off for his character (J.D.) on the recently concluded season of “Scrubs,” Braff just signed for six more episodes at ABC.  He announced his departure from the show earlier this year to focus on directing.

I know it’s the new hipster thing to make fun of the “hipsters” who enjoyed his first film, but I thoroughly enjoyed Garden State.  I’m excited to hear Braff is back at the writing table and possibly in the director’s chair.  Not too fond of Diaz though…
