		<description>So Jennifer Morrison plays Kirk&#039;s mum, huh? The same Jennifer Morrison as was 30 last month? Neat trick! Or does she die before he reaches adulthood? That would at least save us the embarrassing realisation that otherwise she must have had wee Kirk when she was, what, 10? Winona Ryder is 38 and could conceivably (ho ho) have had Spock when she was, say, 16 without breaking too many rules, provided Spock is no more than, say, 22.

This is the sort of nonsense we&#039;ve had since Angela Lansbury played Laurence Harvey&#039;s mother in the original The Manchurian Candidate (he was 34, she was 37) and reached even greater heights when Angeline Jolie played &quot;Alexander&quot;&#039;s mother— when Farrell was 28 and she was (wait for it) 29. When will Hollywood stop pretending that women cease to exist age 40?</description>
