James Franco will re-team with Danny McBride for Your Highness, a comedy at Universal Pictures. David Gordon Green is set to direct.
The three talents worked together on Pineapple Express, so already this sounds good. McBride co-wrote the script about two spoiled, arrogant princes in medieval times who go on a quest to save the kingdom and a kidnapped princess from an evil wizard. Franco would play McBride’s more heroic brother. Hopefully this movie will make more than the mediocre $87 million their last comedy made.
The movie starts shooting this July and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Franco turned down a possible opportunity in Christopher Nolan’s next film (Inception) to star in McBride’s comedy.
He also has an offer to play a role opposite Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love, a drama, but his school schedule may conflict with the movie.
Franco graduated last year from UCLA and recently caused a student protest over being announced as the commencement speaker at the upcoming graduation ceremony. He plans to attend Columbia University to get his master’s degree.
I think James Franco is one of the best young actors working right now and the fact that he’s able to switch from a comedy like Pineapple Express to a drama like Milk shows he’s versatile.
